Massage Styles
Couples Massage
A Couples Massage can be booked in one of two ways. You may have two therapists performing treatments simultaneously or one therapist performing back to back sessions. This is especially helpful for those with young children. Please specify the massage styles you would each prefer.
Swedish Massage
Also known as Circulatory Massage, Swedish Massage is a relaxing technique that utilizes long strokes, kneading and a light/firm touch. It is referred to as 'Circulatory Massage' due to aiding the circulatory systeming in the movement of blood-flow back toward the heart.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is effective in breaking down adhesions, a scar-like tissue, that has formed in muscles and restricts movement or cuts off circulation to an area. Deep Tissue massage seeks to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Combination Massage
Often times, Massage Therapists will utilize a combination of styles in an effort to provide you with the most beneficial results. A Swedish/Deep Tissue combination is the most common, but many styles can be integrated into your session.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. Techniques aim to increase range of motion, speed and improve the quality of healing. Many Sports Massage techniques can be incorporated into Deep Tissue massage sessions.
Event Sports Massage
Delivered at the performance site, pre-event Sports Massage uses fast-paced and stimulating techniques to aid in blood flow and warm up muscles. Post-event massage aims to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body.
Traditional Thai Massage
Traditional Thai Massage is practiced on a firm mat on the floor instead of on a massage table, while the client wears loose, comfortable clothing -- so no draping is necessary. The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands, forearms and feet to apply firm rhythmic pressure, and stretching of the entire body.
Pregnancy Massage
A specialized massage performed during pregnancy, Pre-natal Massage reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu or “finger pressure” massage, uses finger and palm pressure to improve the flow of energy. Pressure is applied to specific points along Meridian Lines on the body in an attempt to relieve tension and pain.
Energy Work
There are many different styles of Energy Work that utlize the principals of working to remove energy blockages and rebalance the energy field. These treatments aid in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing.
Aromatherapy
The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) is a healing technique that aids in relaxation and improved circulation. Aromatherapy can be incorporated into most massage sessions.
Chair Massage
This type of massage can be carried out in any public area where space is limited. It does not require lotion and is done over the clothes. Seated massage focuses on the head, back, shoulders, neck, arms, and hands.
